This ended up so much longer than I was anticipating. Whoops…Please tell me if you’re not happy with any of it, or if you want anything changed/cut out/altered, and I’ll see what I can do. I tried to give just the basic outline. Details can be done as we go along.
1. Briefing and travelling to ‘Land of Lotus-eaters’, encountering Tritones
Max has done his homework and located the rough positioning of the bow and arrow (through mysterious and contact-utilising ways), which happens to be on an island off the coast of North Africa.
Djerbe is what we’re using for the basic location, but for the scenery/geography, I was thinking of Cape Verde – it has the mountains and jungle we need. Hope it’s okay to mix the two.
They board a boat to the island, and meanwhile Max briefs them all on what’s coming up, sets out some basic rules, perhaps goes through a few strategies he’s planned out, and everybody tries to get to know one another. While sailing they encounter Tritones – a shoal of them, around twenty or so. After fighting them off and getting to grips with their first battle tactics, they land on the island.
Tritones are essentially human piranhas, so I don’t think they’ll be too hard to fight off - just a shock. I don’t quite know who will be sailing the boat. Anyone’s character have a secret passion for sailing?
2. Exploring the island and encountering Polyphemos
When they land on the island, Max sends off his clone to scout around the area. Meanwhile, the night creeps forward, and the group looks around for a place to camp. While finding a suitable site, they come across Polyphemos. Using his blindness to their advantage, they trick him into eating the lotus plants and sneak past while he is comatose.
Not much to say here. While they look for a place to sleep, the clone is scouting around for any sign of the bow and arrow. I don’t know whether Polyphemos will notice them or whether they’ll just put food in his path. We can decide that later.
The group comes across a deserted village hidden in the treetops, and decide to sleep there for the night. When they wake the following morning, all their belongings are gone and strange markings are scrawled across the walls of their shelters. The clone, still out scouting, falls into a trap set by the Lotus-eaters and is taken underground to their village.
Basically the village in the treetops used to be the home of the Lotus-eaters, but they abandoned it for a home underground because the monsters inside the mountain(a place to be avoided at all costs) awakened (explained later). The message will just be a warning/stay away of some sort – Monty can decode it for them. And idk I really want a camping in the treetops bonding para. I can always cut this bit out if it makes the story too long. It’s not necessary.
3. Meeting the Lotus-eaters
They find the entrance to the village of the Lotus-eaters and make their way inside. After making friends with the locals, they are given back their belongings and the clone, along with a map of the island and extra supplies to help them on their way. They head to the mountain, where the monsters and hopefully the bow and arrow await them.
Max searches through the memories of his clone to find out where the entrance is, and then Tyler’s pheromone manipulation comes in handy when persuading the Lotus-eaters that they are friendly. Monty’s translating skills are invaluable here as well. The centre of all the activity is the mountain – what the Lotus-eaters call the Dungeons of the Damned, in the very heart of the mountain.
4. Journeying into the mountain
They take refuge on a mountain ledge to catch their breath, but the noise they are making attracts the attention of Campe. After a hard battle over precarious terrain, she is defeated, and the group edge along the pass to enter the mountain.
They have to find this specific passage to get to the heart of the mountain – so they have to climb up quite a bit, scrambling up, making noise, ect.
Things are too quiet as they descend deeper into the mountain. Reaching huge double doors of stone set into the rock, they stop. Inscriptions around the edge reveal that they have finally arrived at the Dungeons of the Damned. Opening the doors makes an incredible amount of noise, and they can hear something unknown stomping towards them. Just in time, they run inside and shut the doors.
This bit may be a little bit stolen from the Mines of Moria. Unintentional until I had written it. XD They’ll encounter the something unknown when they get back out, don’t worry.
5. The Dungeons of the Damned
Inside is what they have been searching for – the bow and arrow, guarded by Tityos. There is no way to get around him; he is chained to the wall and blocking the entrance to the room where the bow waits. The group splits into two – one deals with Tityos, the other tries to get to the bow. The plan works, and the bow and arrow are retrieved.
Here I think they may have to release Tityos. Dustin and Smokes have to be in the group that fights Tityos (unless you really don’t want them to), being the heroes. Chaining him back up again is just too difficult for them to do, so they have to flee and leave him behind the doors.
6. The final battle
But just as they think it is safe, Porphyrion emerges from the depths of the mountain. He is the cleverest of their opponents, and the stealer of the bow and arrow from its rightful place on Olympus. This battle is far from easy; brute strength will not do, they must outwit him.
I have a sort of plan, but I don’t want to have everything set in stone. Basically, Porphyrion tricked Tityos by killing the eagle that ripped out his liver every night in exchange for putting the bow and arrow behind him, but then after placing the bow, just walked away. So I think if they let Tityos out, he and Porphyrion could fight it out while they escape, and the force of the battle causes the mountain to collapse, if that’s not too much of a ridiculous idea. The two will be smashing through the rock and stuff.
After defeating Tityos, their task is over. All the monsters are dealt with, and they return to Allegory as heroes.
